In a royal command performance for Queen Dido, a group of traveling players perform (and sometimes improvise) a heroic comedy based on the the legend of King Arthur that descends into a burlesque pantomime of dark comedy and blunt heroism. However, laughter and song cannot quell the pain that aches Dido’s heart, which continues long after the curtain has fallen as her heartbreak hurtles her towards her inescapable fate.
