Naturalist, author, and pioneer of the nature documentary, Sir David Attenborough has been educating a global audience about wildlife, ecology, and conservation for more than 60 years. His natural-history series Life on Earthcaptured the imagination of a generation and set a new standard for nature programming. His documentary The Life of Birds won the Peabody Award in 1999. “There is no question that birds are the most widespread and successful kind of organism in the world,” he said about the series.
