- The 96th Annual Inner Circle Show, the historic fundraising gala produced, written and performed by the New York Press Corps, will spoof the local, state and national political scene in a satirical two-act laugh-riot, “Curb Your Narcissism,” followed by a “rebuttal” performance by Mayor Bill de Blasio and his arsenal of surprise guests. Over the past 40 years the Inner Circle has given to hundreds of New York City-based charities, such as Covenant House, New York Irish Center, Bedford Stuyvesant YMCA, Columbia College Fund and Doctors Without Borders, to name a few. A who’s who of the NY political, media, entertainment, social and business scenes, past Inner Circle Shows included appearances by Mayor Ed Koch (who came out of the man-eating plant from “Little Shop of Horrors”), Mayor Rudy Giuliani (aka “Rudia,” who sang “Happy Birthday, Mr. President in falsetto), and Mayor Bloomberg, (with the Broadway casts “Chicago,” “Spamalot,” “Mary Poppins” and “Mamma Mia!”) In 2016, Mayor Bill de Blasio was surprised with a walk-on by then Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
