French-American Aid for Children Spring Gala 2018
Friday, April 27 2018
- French-American Aid for Children Spring Gala 2018
- The French-American Aid For Children (FAAFC) Spring Gala 2018 is under the patronage of His Excellency Gérard Araud, Ambassador of France to the United States; His Excellency François Delattre, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of France to the United Nations; and The Honorable Anne-Claire Legendre, Consul General of France in New York. The evening includes a dinner dance, entertainment provided by Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, and the Lester Lanin Orchestra. Jamie Ritchie, Senior VP Worldwide Head of Sotheby’s Wine, will helm a live auction. Tanya Rivero Warren, long time FAAFC supporter and CBS-TV news anchor, will serve as Master of Ceremonies. In its 77th year (formerly known as “Bal des Berceaux,) attracts French and American dignitaries as well as distinguished guests from the New York area. The fundamental mission of FAAFC is to empower children and help them build a better life. The organization funds and monitors specific projects undertaken by hand-selected American and French children’s charities to address issues in health care, education, social problems and the prevention of child abuse. FAAFC is composed of 80 American and international members who carry forward a 79-year-old tradition of supporting underprivileged children in both the US and France. The volunteer organization was originally dedicated to helping French orphans and families of prisoners of war. After World War II, the focus of this New York-based, non-profit organization became children’s welfare, with aid extended to American and French charities. Emergency relief grants are also provided on a one-time basis. Recently, funds were directed towards rebuilding a school in Puerto Rico after the destruction of Hurricane Maria.
